Costa del Sol
The Sun Coast, in short.
Coastal towns and villages in the western part of the province of Málaga, in Andalusia. Norwegians simply call it «Costa'n» – and it lives up to its name.
The coast used to be a string of small, quiet fishing villages. In the second half of the 20th century the region was transformed into a world-famous destination, with an almost continuous belt of settlements along the whole coastline – from Nerja past Málaga to the border of the province of Cádiz.
Inviting beaches, mountains and river valleys to hike, thousands of restaurants, close to a hundred golf courses – and cultural and architectural gems almost wherever you go. Much is also adapted to Scandinavians, from food to healthcare and shops.

Towns along the coast
Málaga
The capital of the Costa del Sol and Picasso's birthplace. Over 2,000 years of history beneath the Gibralfaro castle, with mountains, whitewashed villages and bodegas around the city.
Fuengirola
Everything a larger resort should have: beaches along a long promenade, a marina, restaurants and the Sohail castle. Around 75,000 residents, a quarter from abroad.
Marbella
Jet-set, glamour and Spanish tradition side by side. Luxury hotels, elegant marinas – and on clear days you can see all the way to Morocco.
Calahonda
Between Marbella and Fuengirola. The Norwegian Seamen's Church is based here – a natural meeting point for Norwegians, on holidays and every day.
